[Blockchain Today Correspondent Kim So-yeon] Coinplug (CEO Jun-seon Eo), a block chain specialist, is one of the leading pilot projects of identity verification among the blockchain pilot projects promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). On the 8th, it announced that it would participate in the ‘Building Seafarer Qualification Service Using DID’. The project is carried out by forming a consortium of EdNet, Coinplug, H&Fincore, and Korea Testing & Research Institute, the host company.

The goal of this project is to increase work convenience and security by allowing seafarers to personally visit and issue a seafarer qualification certificate through non-face-to-face identification. By linking the existing operating system of the Korea Maritime and Fisheries Training Institute and the blockchain-based seafarer qualification system, mobile non-face-to-face identity verification and certificate/issuance management have been used to improve the civil service processing procedure for issuance of credentials, thereby reducing the time and cost of the complainant and the work of the agency in charge. It plans to provide efficiency and service quality improvement.

Coinplug supports the development of a crew credential integrated management platform using blockchain-based DID. Due to the prolonged Corona 19, safety education has been switched to non-face-to-face education, and forgery and forgery of the crew’s career and license issuance occurred. In order to prevent this, DID self-authentication and credential management were introduced to provide a reliable ecosystem for seafarers’ qualifications. plans to build

Users (sailors) can participate in education and tests after self-authentication without face-to-face in the seafarer certification service, and can be issued and managed various blockchain-based credentials such as education and training completion certificates/exam pass certificates. In addition, it is expected to greatly increase the convenience of issuance and management of seafarer qualification certificates through training site attendance service and verification of training/test results.

A Coinplug official said, “As the world’s third-largest patent holder, we will work hard on the successful implementation of a seafarer certification system that applies blockchain technology based on our technological prowess through experience in various public and corporate projects.” We plan to accelerate the commercialization of blockchain DID-based services for user convenience.”
