‘Bitcoin 2021’ Some of the attendees tested positive for COVID-19

[Blockchain Today Correspondent Park Yo-han] It was confirmed that some attendees of the ‘Bitcoin 2021’ event recently held in Miami tested positive for COVID-19 after returning home from the conference.

According to Cointelegraph reports, Bloomberg has dubbed the Miami Bitcoin Conference a “Corona Hotspot”, and Gizmodo Newspaper reported that “probably the latest COVID-19 super-spread event.”

Eric Wall, CIO of Arcane Research, underwent a CT scan after suffering from high fever and chest pain. Medical staff suspected a blood clot in the patient’s lungs, but no clots were found, and it is said that Eric Wall was discharged from the hospital and returned home. Luke Martin of Coinist, a developer of automated trading software, also admitted that he tested positive for COVID-19.

According to CNBC, at least 12,000 people attended the event, and no proof of vaccination or mandatory wearing of a mask was required. The event lasted three days at the Mana Wynwood Convention Center in Miami, with no social distancing reportedly being enforced.

The event was Miami’s first major conference since the outbreak of the pandemic. According to the New York Times, the long line to enter the building stretched more than a mile (1.6 km).

The city of Miami and the organizers of the conference are said to have not made an official statement regarding the outbreak.
