Blockcast:Hi Ernie, great to have you on Blockcast. First of all, can you do a brief introduction of yourself? Your experiences, and how you got into the blockchain industry.
Ernie:My name is Ernie Teo, I’m currently the CTO of JEDTrade where I lead the technical development of our blockchain projects as well as providing clients with advice on blockchain. I started my career as an academic teaching Economics and Game Theory, where my research focus was on the economics of high-tech industries. this led to research in Bitcoin in 2014. In 2016, I joined IBM Research Singapore’s Blockchain unit where I worked on industry blockchain projects. I am also currently an adjunct lecturer at the National University of Singapore where I teach fintech and blockchain.
Blockcast: Which project you are now working on? And what’s that about?
Ernie: Jupiter Chain is a project by JEDTrade, its main objective is to enable the use of data on the blockchain with privacy and security. It’s a customized blockchain with a data consent layer and a privacy preserving analytics layer on top. The data consent layer manages user permissions to access their data, giving users control over who their data is shared with. The privacy preserving analytics layer allows for data to be accessed and analysed within a secure execution environment. This combination aims to address data challenges that will come with increased personal data privacy regulations. It enables an entity which wishes to analyse someone’s data to do so without having to see or store the data.
Blockcast: What is your views on the current crypto market?
Ernie: As the technology matures, enterprises and startups alike are exploring the use of blockchain for their business case. I believe the focus will move away from speculation to real world applications and use cases.
Blockcast: Anything else you’d like to share with our viewers? Can you provide a quote or what you believe in for the readers? Eg “I believe in blockchain, it can change the world.”
Ernie: I believe that blockchain will serve as a foundation to bring about a paradigm shift for the new data economy.
Blockcast: Thank you very much for your sharing today.
