[Blockchain Today Correspondent Kim So-yeon] El Salvador President Nayib Bukele said he wants to help entrepreneurs make El Salvador their base.
According to a Cointelegraph report, Bukele said on Twitter on the 7th (local time), “We’re here to help.” This means helping entrepreneurs settling in El Salvador as a base, and exempting them from capital gains taxes by promoting Bitcoin as a legal currency. The announcement is one of many comments from Bukele, who is now famous for trying to make El Salvador a form of ‘bitcoin standard’.
At the Bitcoin 2021 conference in Miami last week, he announced in a pre-recorded video message that he would send lawmakers a bill to legally bid for Bitcoin.
As part of his social media engagement with famous cryptocurrency figures, Bukele has offered official support to those who want to be based in El Salvador. Once a legal tender is made, Bitcoin income is exempt from capital gains tax.
“We’ll help with this,” he replied while discussing the topic with podcast host Stefan Rivera.
A separate tweet was posted promising “instant permanent residency for cryptocurrency entrepreneurs,” which aroused interest from figures such as Tron CEO Justin Sun and Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao.
