Korea Digital Payments (KDP) announced on the 30th that it has launched a kiosk that supports credit card, cash, and cryptocurrency Paycoin (PCI) payments for the first time in Korea. Paycoin is a cryptocurrency issued by Danal Fintech and has 1.5 million domestic users. Paycoin is widely used in 70,000 affiliated stores such as CU, Domino’s Pizza, and CGV.
From the beginning of this year, the two companies agreed to jointly develop the system linkage for the sound spread of PayCoin, and after developing and testing prototypes, the kiosk was introduced to the market. The two companies are expecting that PayCoin, which was used mainly for large franchises, can be easily applied to self-employed and small franchises, thereby expanding the settlement base to alley commercial areas.
An official from Korea Digital Payments explained, “At stores that apply Paycoin kiosks, customers can increase convenience in accordance with the diversification of payment methods, additional inflow of Paycoin users, and various promotions of Danal Fintech.” According to the launch of the Kiosk, Korea Digital Payments will hold a discount event of up to 55% to customers who purchase through the website.
An official at Korea Digital Payments said, “Amid the rapid transition to a non-face-to-face society, the demand for kiosks is steadily increasing,” and “We plan to steadily introduce innovative products for convenience and operational efficiency to the market.”
Meanwhile, Korea Digital Payments was selected as a smart super smart technology holder selected by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups by establishing a product line of’Buckle’ kiosks that allow non-face-to-face orders and payments in stores in March.
