[Blockchain Today Reporter Seo-yeon Jang] National Football League (NFL) star Rob Gronkowski’s NFT work generated initial sales of over $1.8 million at OpenSea.

According to Cointelegraph reports, Rob Gronkowski’s Championship Series NFT collection includes five tokenized cards depicting a player’s action shots during a match in a championship victory match.

The championship series consists of five unique collectibles, including one special token and four NFTs with only 87 copies each being issued and auctioned from March 11th to 13th. According to the specified auction conditions, each auction placed within the last 10 minutes will be extended by 10 minutes.

One of the collections of GRONK NFT trading cards is collaged with four illustrations that make up the other tokens in the collection, and digitally signed by Gronkowski. Token buyers will have the opportunity to meet the star, and will receive two tickets to participate in one of the 2021 NFL games, and a VIP ticket to Gronkowski’s next beach party event.

Bids for the only one NFT started at about $110, and bidders quickly raised their bids to a six-digit number. At the final stage of the auction, the bid rose from $150,000 to more than $400,000 in two hours. Bidder ‘9DD7B7’ purchased a token for 229 Ethereum, which was worth about $430,000 at the time.

This buyer was busy throughout the auction. I purchased 160 Gronkoski NFTs, each of which included the top 5 tokens. The combined payment for the five collectibles is approximately $650,000.

Some of Gronkowski’s tokens are already being traded in the secondary market at the time of opening. The’GRONK Championship Li’ sold for 14.2 ETH ($26,000), and the’GRONK Championship LV’ sold for 7.77 EHT ($14,000).
