[Blockchain Today Reporter Jieun Lee] A Serbian man who committed more than $70 million in cryptocurrency fraud was delivered to the United States.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the man is accused of committing a double-option, cryptocurrency mining scam. The Serbian government delivered the man in question to the United States as the Dallas Federal Grand Jury prosecuted him. Some of the victims reportedly live in northern Texas.
He advertised as paying an average of 80 percent for double options and a 20 percent refund for lost transactions. In addition, the advertisement showed that if you buy bitcoin on a cryptocurrency mining platform, you can buy bitcoin for half the price.
In July of last year, the Serbian government arrested the man in question, Antonije Stojilkovic, 32, and the FBI took the man to a North Texas District Court on the 4th (local time). In addition to Stogilkovic, there are six more conspirators, and one is reportedly American.
The U.S. judiciary also claimed that the respondent produced false transaction activity, withdrawal history and wire transfer receipts. Stogilkovic is known to face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
