Something plans to actively cooperate with partners to develop the OST sound source for the popular digital IP’Step of Time’ webtoon owned by Dasan Books, a comprehensive content company.
Something is jointly investing with Dasan Books to produce this’Step of Time’ OST. Dasan Books provides its popular web novels and webtoon IPs, and Something provides a mobile audition platform for recruiting and selecting talented singers from ordinary people. In addition, Knockdown Entertainment will be in charge of the sound source planning and production, and will provide the music production capabilities of the cooperative partners to this project. Through this collaboration, the three companies plan to make various IPs of Dasan Books as OST, starting with’Step of Time’.
The OST of’Stairway of Time’ consists of a total of 5 songs, and was planned based on the theme of the main characters and stories of the work. Currently, it has started producing sound sources, and aims to release them sequentially in the first half of this year.
Something, Dasan Books, and Knockdown Entertainment are expected to start casting songwriters soon. Recently, it has been confirmed that a famous Korean artist Ki-go Jung will participate as a duet singer for this project, and is discussing collaboration with a number of talented composers and singers. Something plans to recruit and select talented singers from ordinary people by actively utilizing the audition platform in the social karaoke app operated by the company.
Recently, OSTs based on popular webtoons dominate the rankings of domestic music sites, and the webtoon OST craze is blowing. However, a joint business agreement project with IP owners, entertainment companies, and content platform operators like this one is a rare attempt.
