[Blockchain Today reporter Jihye Han] The launch of the mainnet 3.0 of the encryption-based e-sports streaming app Theta was postponed until June.

According to the announcement by Theta Labs, the company is working on a development team to integrate some building blocks into the non-replaceable token NFT market for Theta Mainnet 3.0. In addition, efforts are being made to ensure network functions even when expanding to more than 100,000 Elite Edge Nodes.

Accordingly, Theta said, “We needed more time for more thorough code review and testing, and we plan to postpone the release date scheduled for April 21 until June 30.” I think it’s a smart way to successfully launch Mainnet 3.0.”

It is reported that the network will focus on building the NFT market, which was in a sudden boom. Theta aims to create a decentralized storage space for NFTS by establishing a cross-chain bridge between its own network, Ethereum network and other networks, with Elite Edge nodes tokenizing internet bandwidth. This can solve the cost problem of launching NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.

Similarly last year, Theta delayed the release of Mainnet 2.0 from March to May for further testing. At the time, the release was eventually carried out on May 27th without further delay.

With the launch of Mainnet 3.0, the protocol’s proprietary token, THETA, has seen a surge, rising by more than 450% from $2.14 to $11.86 from January 1 to the latest. This token has surpassed the trend of BTC (Bitcoin) in the current surge.
