The cryptocurrency donation website he linked is managed by a group of Nigerian feminists who fight against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police through protests, fundraising and social media.

On October 4, Nigeria began a series of demonstrations. Thousands of people took to the streets to protest against the brutality of the Nigerian police and called for the disbandment of SARS. As a result, the topic #endSARS became a hot search.

Several emerging crypto companies such as BuyCoins and Busha also donated Bitcoin for this cause.

Paxful is a popular peer-to-peer bitcoin trading market in Africa. Its CEO Ray Youssef also supports the endSARS label, accusing the police of improperly targeting young people who use cryptocurrency. He said that this situation is “a real human rights crisis currently taking place!”

Jack Dorsey has long been a supporter of Bitcoin. In the past, he has said that because Bitcoin is “built on consensus” and “built by everyone”, Bitcoin “may be the best native currency on the Internet.”

Dorsey’s payment company Square Inc has established a new open source non-profit organization to hold crypto patents. Last week, Square joined MicroStrategy after purchasing $50 million worth of BTC and became a large public company holding Bitcoin on its books. The news made headlines and appeared in world mainstream newspapers such as The Scotsman. The Scotsman stated that the move “caused volatility in the entire American business community”.
