[Blockchain Today Correspondent Han Ji-hye] Bitwise’s chief investment officer predicted that Bitcoin could reach $100,000 next year, not this year. It is also predicted that next year, investors will be interested in cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum, Solana, and Polygon.
According to a Cointelegraph report on the 7th (local time), Bitwise CFO Matt Hougan said that following the recent massive crash in the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin will hit an all-time high in the next three weeks and reach $100,000. I don’t think it will go up.
“It’s difficult to predict reaching $100,000 by the end of the year,” he said in an interview with Bloomberg on the 6th. “I think reaching $100,000 by 2022 could be a target, but I’m not sure this year.”
He continued, “The expectations of a potential cryptocurrency rally next year will have a large institutional backing impact. Looking into 2022, I think this fundamental driving force, the institution we talk to on a daily basis at Bitwiz, still exists. Many institutions are still entering the market for the first time. are doing,” he added.
In addition, it is predicted that next year, there will be ‘explosive increases in Ethereum-based activity’ and those who want to improve the basic protocol itself to expand the overall system rather than create a Layer One solution or other protocol.
“Investors will be interested in Ethereum, Solana or Polygon,” Hogan said. Investors are starting to realize that there is more to cryptocurrency than Bitcoin. If there is one bigger story next year, it will be everything else: DeFi, NFT, Web3 or cryptocurrencies like Metaverse.”
While Hogan noted the growing potential of altcoins, or non-Bitcoins, some prominent figures in the crypto community are still sticking with Bitcoin.
