Latest data: The number of Ethereum addresses holding at least 1 ETH reaches 1.17 million, the highest level in history
According to Glassnode data, the number of Ethereum addresses currently holding at least one ETH reaches 1,170,598 (about 1.17 million), a record high. (Note: The number of wallets holding at least 1 BTC reached 825254 on the 4th of this month, which is also a record high)
In contrast, in July, the number of Ethereum addresses holding at least 1 ETH reached 1.076 million; by September, the number reached 1.126 million, an increase of 4.6%.
However, according to Decrypt, compared with the 2017 bull market, the increase is weak. Data shows that on January 1, 2017, the number of Ethereum addresses holding at least 1 ETH reached 65,907. As of January 2018, the number rose to 872,783, an increase of 1224%.
On the other hand, the number of addresses holding 32 ETH is also hitting a record high. On November 5th, Glassnode data showed that there were 126,852 addresses holding at least 32 ETH, which was at the historical peak. Prior to this (since June this year), the number has been hovering around 123,000, and the growth is only a few hundred addresses. The analysis believes that users have increased their holdings of ETH due to the timing of the confirmation of Ethereum 2.0.
According to previous reports, Phase 0 of Ethereum 2.0 is scheduled to start on December 1. Before that, 16,384 validators must pledge 524,288 ETH to the deposit contract to officially launch the genesis block. Data shows that 108032 ETH has been deposited in the current contract, which is equivalent to 20.6% of the total deposit.
The data shows that of the ETH deposited in the contract, more than 24% of the tokens come from 3 “giant whales”. Bison Trails protocol expert Viktor Bunin analyzed and pointed out that one of the ETH whales deposited 17088 ETH on November 14, and the purchase cost of this part of the token was $300. The other two giant whales deposited 5504 and 5,024 ETH respectively.
According to data from Cocoa Finance, the current price of ETH is US$475, the value of tokens deposited in the contract is approximately US$51.31 million, and the three giant whales invested approximately US$13.11 million. It should be noted that Vitalik, the founder of Ethereum, deposited 3,200 ETH into the contract on the 5th of this month, worth about 1.52 million US dollars.
