Recently, as the demand for graphics cards surged due to the mining of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, the price of high-end PCs is also skyrocketing.
As the bitcoin price rose from 12 million won to about 80 million won at the beginning of October last year, the market was booming, and miners sprang up. As they wiped out the graphics cards used in mining, a shortage phenomenon occurred, which in turn encouraged PC prices to increase.
In fact, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card was released at 600,000 won last October, but is currently trading from the lowest price of 1699,000 won to the highest price of 2 million won. Used graphics cards have also doubled in price, and even low-end graphics cards are being sold on fire.
As graphics card makers such as ASUS and MSI are also predicting continued price increases, the graphics card turmoil is expected to continue for the time being.
